Healthwatch Together (made up of Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen, Healthwatch Blackpool, Healthwatch Cumberland, Healthwatch Lancashire and Healthwatch Westmorland and Furness) are embarking on their latest project: Maternity and Neonatal matters.
This project is exploring the experiences of maternity and neonatal services across Lancashire and South Cumbria. From pregnancy to birth and everything in between, Healthwatch Together want to hear from mothers and birthing partners about their experiences including:
- Were you given choice on your preferred place of birth?
- Did you feel informed in any decisions which were made?
- Was a personalised care plan discussed with you?
- Were you offered a 6-8 week postnatal check by your GP?
Healthwatch Together will be conducting an engagement roadshow during March to gather as much feedback as possible. We will be attending family hubs, baby and toddler groups and more!
As well as the engagement roadshow, we will also be conducting Enter and View visits in birth centres, maternity units and delivery suites across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Feedback gathered through the engagement roadshow and Enter and View visits will give Healthwatch Together an insight into local maternity and neonatal experiences, including areas of good practice and possible areas for improvement.
Healthwatch Together are already working closely with the Lancashire and South Cumbria Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) who will receive comprehensive reports of feedback received along with recommendations, in which the data will feed into their 2024/25 workplan.
Do you have a maternity or neonatal experience to share with us? We would love to hear from you >
