Community equipment services provide free equipment on loan for however long as necessary, to people living in the communities of Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool and across Lancashire.
In these areas, the service helps people to carry out day to day tasks and activities of daily living that they would otherwise be unable to do without such support.
Equipment is also provided to support carers to enable them to continue to support loved ones with on-going care at home.
The type of equipment provided to people’s homes includes, but is not limited to hospital-type beds, pressure relieving mattresses, bed tables, specialist moving and handling equipment, specialist seating, commodes, and other items that support people to remain independent and/or in their own homes. Some of the equipment must be fitted or adapted by staff to the home in which they will be used.
Both the NHS and the upper tier local authorities of Lancashire County Council, Blackpool, and Blackburn with Darwen Councils are seeking to improve the current community equipment service.
To do this, we need and welcome feedback from people who have used or continue to use this service.
