People living and working in Lancashire are invited by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to share their views and experiences of our 999 emergency ambulance service, NHS 111 service, and patient transport service (PTS) as part of a conversation with the community.
Whether you’re an interested member of the public, NHS professional, carer, patient, or healthcare champion, NWAS wants to listen to and learn from you. The service is hosting a series of free events across the five counties of the North West (Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria and Lancashire) to get input from people who use their services.
During the Covid-19 pandemic and throughout its recovery, NWAS has been forced to change rapidly to give patients the best care. Their determined staff continues to care compassionately for Lancashire’s residents whilst the NHS faces ongoing challenges, particularly with hospital handover delays.
Earlier this year, NWAS launched a new strategy outlining how, over the next three years, it will provide high-quality inclusive care, be a brilliant place to work for all and work together with staff, patients and partners to build a better future. There is a clear commitment to revisit the basics, make improvements on the things that matter most to patients and staff, whilst striving for excellence.
With this in mind, NWAS is checking in with people in its local communities to discuss how effectively they deliver its 999, 111 and PTS services, ensuring they have the right resources in the right place at the right time, to perform to the high standards its patients expect.
The community conversation for people in Lancashire will take place on Thursday 17 November 2022, 1pm until 4pm at The Grand Venue, 2 Harrison Street, Blackburn, BB2 2JE.
Who is it for?
The event is for you if:
- You are interested in the ambulance service or the NHS
- You have used any of NWAS’ services (999, 111 or PTS)
- You champion health and care in your community
- You interact with NWAS’ services as part of your job or voluntary role
- You are willing to share your views and listen to other people
What to expect
During the event, you will hear how NWAS helps thousands of patients who need urgent and emergency care every day and what to expect as the NHS heads into winter and beyond. You will help the service to understand what’s important to people in your area by sharing your views and experiences in fun and interactive activities. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions to NWAS frontline staff and senior leaders.
Free lunch and refreshments will be provided for all guests.
After the event, NWAS will collect and analyse all of the experiences shared and produce a report that will help to improve care for people in your community, just like you.
