Healthwatch BwD are currently recruiting for the following positions: 

Board Members/Directors needed:

Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen is in an exciting period of development and we are looking for highly skilled and motivated professional board members/directors to provide strategic leadership.

Essential requirements are excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build strong relationships, ability to participate effectively in discussions, effectively problem solving and analytical skills, ability to work as part of a team and motivate others, demonstrate experience in representing the 'voice' of others, possess qualities of integrity, credibility, drive and a passion for improving health and social care services and willing to undertake training to continue to develop skills, experience and knowledge to fulfil the role of board member/director.

Desirable requirements are strong connections with and knowledge of local communities, networks and services, understanding of the challenges facing the NHS and Local Government which may impact on  community health and wellbeing, understanding of the Health and Well Being Board, Scrutiny, NHS Trust and Clinical Commissioning group functions, experience of working with a diverse range of local partners and networks eg Third Sector organisations, Council, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Health and Social Care providers

Volunteers needed with experience of eating disorders

Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen are soon to embark on an exciting new project exploring the views and experiences of young people who have experienced an eating disorder.

We are looking for volunteers with lived (personal) experience and/or family members who have supported a young person to help design and deliver the project. We hope by listening to young people's experiences we can help ensure local provision best meets the needs of those experiencing or at risk of developing an eating disorder.

In addition, the project will also explore body image and how this impacts young peoples physical and mental health.

Help shape local services now and for the future.

Are you passionate about health and social care services and want to get involved in shaping services in your area?                                                        

We are currently recruiting for professional volunteers who live, work or access services in Blackburn with Darwen into the following roles: 

Volunteer Roles

Enter & View Authorised Representative - Going into health and social care services e.g. Hospital wards, care homes, doctors, dentist to collect patients, family/carers and staff views

Engagement – Having lived experience (personal experience or family/friends) to be involved in our new exciting projects on Veterans, Asylum Seekers/Refugees, A & E, Children and Young people up to 25 Eating Disorders and body image

Signposting – Staffing a promotional stand at a public event

Events Planner – Planning events

Admin and Data Entry – Assisting our Office Manager

Reading Champion – Proof reading our documents

Mystery Shopper – Testing the quality of experiences of health and social care services using different scenarios and situations

Journalist and Social Media – Assisting in producing our newsletter and updating all our social media

Researcher – Collecting statistics and collating results

Creative Facilitator –  need skills in Graphic Design or Art or Photography

Amplify Children and Young People Facilitator –  to work with young people and help have their voices heard
