Sensory Impairment Project Launch
Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen are launching a new project exploring the views and experiences of residents with hearing and visual impairments. The project will focus on access, communication and experience when visiting local Health & Social Care Services.
Healthwatch are working in partnership with a number of local groups and organisations including Access Ability, Resolve and School of Sign Language to deliver the project, along with students from Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio. The project launches on Monday 26th September with a week of activity including a Deaf Awareness & British Sign Language Training Session for volunteers & partners, and will run until March 2017.
Healthwatch are particularly keen to identify people who are willing to be interviewed for case studies, all those who take part in the project will be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 gift card for The Mall, Blackburn. A Sensory Impairment Task Group will meet monthly over the course of the project, the next meeting will be on Wednesday 5th October 10-12pm at Blackburn Enterprise Centre.
