Your spotlight on local services

New Chief Officer In Post

Andy Griffiths, joined Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen as Chief Officer on January 3rd 2017.

Andy takes over from Mark Rasburn who left the organisation in October 2016.  Andy joins Healthwatch from Shelter - the Housing and Homelessness Charity where he worked as a Business Development Manager in Blackburn with Darwen and across the North. Having previously held management positions for a Mental Health charity in Australia, a Young Person’s Drug and Alcohol Service in Wales and in Community Development, Andy brings in a wealth of experience that will help Healthwatch BwD move forward.

Sir Bill Taylor, Chairman of Healthwatch BwD, said:

"We welcome our new Chief Officer Andy Griffiths to Healthwatch BwD.

His diverse background is exactly the kind of mix we were looking for to take us forward.

Healthwatch BwD, given the changes & cuts being inflicted upon both health & social care services is more needed than ever before.

Our role must be to get clear information, without any mystifying jargon, out to all our patient, citizens & their families, so they know exactly what's happening to their services.”

Andy said:

“I am really excited to have joined such a well-respected Healthwatch. I am looking forward to working with such a passionate team of staff and volunteers and look forward to working with them, our board and partners to ensure our local services are providing the services that our residents need and deserve.

“I would urge the public to get involved and talk to us about their experience both good and bad with services and get their voice heard to ensure that health and social care providers continue to offer high quality services even in the challenging circumstances that we all face.
